I am an enchanter.... There are some who call me... Tim?

Well been a while since I got anything done - work's been a bit of a shock to the system after paternity leave and Easter hols!

Anyways - back to the old Orc warband and this time another ogre - the old ogre shaman by Jes Goodwin, who bears a passing resemblence to...

Would be nice to assemble a small band of ogres for an SOBH campaign - think it'd make a nice change to follow the adventures of a marauding band of evil ogres, rather than a fellowship of goody-two-shoes heroes saving the day. First scenario - capture as many villagers as possible for dinner? Raid the local inn for beer?!

Well chin-chin... do carry on with your mud pies...

Back to Orc's Drift and another Dwarf...

If you know Zulu then you'll know the title is one of Lieutenant Bromhead's little put-downs directed at Lieutenant Chard, referring to Chard's (perceived) inferior status as an engineer. Things change of course as the Zulus approach...

So today we have Ozrim Chardz - leader of a unit of Dwarf Engineers left behind at Orc's Drift to repair the bridge over the river Canis, damaged by the passage of the Grand League's army as it rushes to meet the Goblin threat in the East. Of course the real threat becomes apparent as King Fyarr's orcs are spotted advancing on Orc's Drift intending on marching on the undefended capital city of Palesandre...

Chardz, having had his dwarves throw up some hasty barricades, along with Brommedir's Elven Bows, is the last line of defence...

I've used another proxy mini here as I don't have the original Chardz mini. Might have to save a little while later before I can afford him too after one went for over £300 on Ebay!!!

King Gorin from the Dwarf Lords of Legend Box set makes a good stand-in, if a little grand! Nice mini though and a very similar pose...

So just need to save up for some old Dwarf sappers and engineers for him to command now!

Onto pastures new...

Well a slight deviation...

In anticipation of receiving another lovely old WFB 2nd ed.scenario (The Magnificent Svenn), courtesy of ebay, I thought I'd paint up the inspiration for my purchase - Juggo Jorikson.

Hadn't actually realised he was a scenario character as he came with a job lot of dwarves a while back. Happily I've also found I own Gurgll and one of the Slann Braves who also feature in this scenario. More info as soon as I've read the scenario as I don't know much about it at present...

Haven't totally forgotten about Orc's Drift - Juggo will be making an appearance in the Ashak Rise scenario desperately protecting his gold from the invading orcs!

You're joking - I'm sick! Nobody's got any right to ask me to muck around in a flamin' battle. I'm getting out...

Actually quoting Private Hook from Zulu is doing these two characters down a bit!

These walking wounded have rallied to defend the makeshift hospital at Orc's Drift despite their injuries...

Bertolac is a hero of the Grand League soldiering on despite a light head injury that affects his stats by -1!

By his side is an old Dwarf warrior, Beli, who stands firm until an unlucky dice roll means that his battle shock flares up and he becomes subject to stupidity as a result!

Still on the look out for Fernbreth, an Elven warrior with a bad eye, and Gymlet, a Dwarf sergeant-at-arms, who only has one good leg - giving him only one round of combat before he spins around and falls over - as the rules themselves state!

Anyways - a few group shots.

Lend me your ears...

Next Orc's Drift mini I have in the lead pile is this Elf champion, who was to be leader of my Elven Spears but has now been promoted to represent Brommedir - commander of the Elven Bows left behind to guard the Army of the Grand League's supplies. This somewhat inglorious duty could be said to be due in part to Brommedir's partial deafness - not a great condition to have on the battlefield...

However, Brommedir's Bows and the Dwarf Engineers under Osrim Chardz find themselves in the unenviable position of being the only units between King Fyaar's sneaky invasion and the capital city, Palesandre, whilst the rest of the Army of the Grand League is off to the east dealing with a large incursion of Goblins. On top of that Brommedir must guard the army's paychest, containing some 100 000 gold coin and try to ignore the bleatings of the mad Druid Healer who is insistent on evacuating his wounded patients in the carts that are being used in the villages barricades...

Can the Dwarves be trusted with all that shiny stuff?

Will Ferndale the Druid leave a large hole in the village's defences as he escapes with his patients?

Has Brommedir heard the sound of flapping wings behind him...

Stay tuned!!

If you've enjoyed some of the stuff I've been doing with these great old minis this will also be right up your street...

Dave King's brilliant blog - http://kingsminis.blogspot.com/

Great minis, amazing paint jobs and some great painting techniques which I've found really useful - just waiting for that matte medim to arrive in the post...

Nice to see some new old Chaos Dwarf sculpts too - if that makes sense!

That's not a knife...

As the nippers, the wife and the dog are all napping - thought I'd get a bit more painting done!

Another Grand League character - the sober and rather angry Leofwine, Mayor of the southern township of Meledir and captain of the militia sent to defend the settlement and roads of Linden Way from the invading Kwae Karr Orcs.

Again I've used a proxy for the original mini featured in the original scenario and this old citadel paladin fits the bill quite nicely, being kitted out with the right armour and weaponry - not to mention his mayorly looking moustache!

The desperate battle for Linden Way
(just a re-enactment for now... Not sure what Ferndale Snart is doing there?!)

Also featuring in this post is another old card building - the watchtower, which features in the Linden Way scenario...
